‘Ekahi weimaraners is located in Kaneohe Hawaii on the main island of Oahu.
I got my first weimaraner in 1973 while still in high school. Kaleiwaianuhea O'Haiku was a combination of the Von Gaiberg and Halann’s bloodlines then top winning show kennels of the 1950’s and 1960’s. In 1976 I imported Star N Cher's Ruffian into Hawaii from the Star N kennels in Las Vegas. She was a granddaughter of of the top winning and top producing Ch. Shadowmar Barthaus Dorillio . Ruffian was a Best of Breed winner who propelled me into the competitiveness of the show ring. It wasn’t until 1995 that I actually bred a litter using ‘Ekahi as my kennel name.
Since that first litter in 1995, I have bred 52 U.S. Champions, 2 Canadian and 2 Australian Champions including a BIS winner at 12 months of age.
Three bitches that I bred have received BROM (Breed Register of Merit) status having each been the dam of at least 4 champions. One of these girls, Ch. 'Ekahi's Fair Maiden, was the 2001 National Top Producing bitch. In all these bitches have produced 16 champions including 4 multiple sporting group winners.
I have also been fortunate to own 2 Best in Show winners, BIS Ch Jokars n ‘Ekahi RC Prelude and Mulitple BIS Ch. Greydove ‘Ekahi IslandGal. Both of these girls have been the top sporting dogs in Hawaii as well as top 10 all breeds Hawaii.
‘Ekahi Weimaraners also have numerous obedience and agility titles as well as being personal bird hunting dogs.
